Interesting Facts about Pansies

Pansies are closely related to violets. They grow close to the ground and have heart-shaped leaves. Pansies have 5 petals that are normally yellow, purple, or pink. Their “faces” are dark purple blotches that may have a line running the center. Pansies can grow all year round when the weather is steady. They also don’t get fungi and other nasty plant killing diseases. That makes them very popular with gardeners, and they have been planted in gardens for decades. Pansies can grow up to 10 inches tall and need at least 6 inches to grow healthy. Too close together and the plants start fighting over space.
