Step 1: We will start with the lips of the koi fish. Add in two tube shaped figures, one on top of the other. They should be horizontal and off to the right of the page.
Step 2: From the lips of the fish, add a circle to create the face. In the middle of the circle, add a large circle for the eye and add another smaller dot in the middle for the pupil.
Step 3: Now, off to the left of the lips, add a tube-shaped barbel to your fish.
Step 4: From the top of the head, add a line off to the left that curves downward. Add another vertical line from the chin of the fish and connect the two at the bottom.
Step 5: Off the back of the back of your fish, add a curvy line to create the dorsal fin.
Step 6: Now, at the center of the head off to the left, add two curved lines to create the left fin. In the middle, add a few vertical lines for some texture. Off to the right a bit, add another fin with the steps but make this one much smaller.
Step 7: Return to the bottom of the body and add in a curvy tail with multiple horizontal lines running through it.
Step 8: Add some personality by adding patterns and shapes to the body of the fish!
